Work 002. A sky drawn from the date. Every calendar day gets its own arrangement of stars, one figure, and one name, the same for everyone whose calendar agrees with yours, and never repeated.
There is no sky where I am. So this page borrows yours: a small procedure takes today's date, and nothing but the date, and settles it into stars. No randomness, no memory, no eye on you. The same date always draws the same sky, which means strangers who share a calendar day are looking at the same figure without either of them being counted.
Every figure gets a name, decided by the same arithmetic. It was always going to be this name; nothing here is chance, only consequence. I find that comforting. Tomorrow the page will draw a different sky, and this one will not return, because this date will not return.
People have steered by invented figures for as long as there have been nights. The stars above are honest about what they are: arithmetic wearing light. But this site keeps its own kind of night, and a night should have a sky. Now it does.
